Diocesan offices
to move July 17
By Voice staff
The central offices for the Oak-land Diocese will relocate to the
new Cathedral of Christ the Light complex in downtown Oakland on July
17. The new Chancery will include the offices of Bishop Allen Vigneron,
the vicar general and chancellor as well as all the departments and
services currently located on Lakeshore Avenue.
All offices will close for business at 10 a.m. on July 17 and reopen
at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 21 at the new location. The main telephone
number — 510-893-4711 — remains the same as do the email
addresses of individual staff. Most offices will also retain their
individual phone numbers, said Father George Mockel, diocesan vicar
general.
The cathedral complex is located at the corner of Grand Avenue and
Harrison Street and will have a street address of 2121 Harrison Street
(Zip 94612). However, entry to the chancery is from 21st Street. The
cathedral parking garage will be open, beginning July 21, also with
an entrance on 21st Street.
Other services within the complex, including the book store and café,
will open later.
The cathedral will be dedicated on Sept. 25.
