Saying good-bye to
St. Barnabas School
By Voice staff
St. Barnabas School held a ceremony June 11, marking
the end of its 50 years of Catholic education in Alameda. The school is
closing because of low enrollment. Most students are transferring to neighboring
Catholic schools in Alameda, Oakland and San Lorenzo. Some will attend
public schools.

leads the farewell ceremony.

during the closing ceremony. |

Kindergarten students Eowynne Sutton, Christine Villanueva and Kimora
Robinson show the memory box where student representatives placed
symbols of life at the school — a crucifix, religion book, candle,
sweatshirt, trophy, yearbook, graduation ribbon, and history of the
school. They also included a key to symbolize their wish that the
school will re-open some day. |
