Matt Colgan, celebrated executive chef at À Côté
Restaurant in Rockridge, will bring his French/Mediterranean recipes to
Oakland’s St. Vincent de Paul Society Dining Room on March 12 at
6:30 p.m. Colgan will work with students in the Society’s Kitchen
of Champions culinary program to prepare a special three-course dinner
for 75 guests.
The dinner is a fundraiser to help the SVDP’s employment training
project and will be the first in a series of four Guest Chef appearances
slated to unfold during the next year.
In 2002 Colgan was named as one of five young chefs who were changing
the way the Bay Area eats. His small plate food offerings at À
Côté are inspired by his studies in Tuscany.
SVDP’s Kitchen of Champions culinary program began in September
2007 under the direction of Chef Michael Stamm to train homeless and low
income adults for jobs in the food industry.
The price of the chef-prepared dinner, which includes wine, is $50 per
person with a special price of $35 for Vincentians. The dining room is
located at 675 23rd St. in Oakland. For reservations call (510) 636-4261.
