Holy Names University in Oakland is expanding its Master
of Arts degree program in pastoral ministries to the Diocese of Fresno
through a state-of-the-art video conferencing system between Oakland and
Fresno.
Robert Lassalle-Klein, program director, said the Fresno program “is
designed to accommodate the lives of fulltime pastoral ministers who also
have family obligations.” Classes will meet Monday nights for seven
weeks and will be offered via face to face video conferencing at Saint
Agnes Medical in Fresno and in the HNU classroom. Other Fresno sites will
be added later.
Holy Names University, in collaboration with the Oakland Diocese, began
offering its master’s degree program in 2000. Two classes have successfully
completed the program.
Susan Rizo, a Fresno high school teacher, called the new program “an
exciting time for those of us in the Fresno Diocese. We are hours away
from a Catholic university in the San Joaquin Valley, so this satellite
program is a great way to connect us to professors that can broaden our
studies in the area of theology.”
