Brother Timothy James Ford, FSC
Brother Timothy James Ford, a former professor at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, died Jan. 27 in Napa. A member of the De La Salle Christian Brothers for 62 years, he was 81.

A native of New York, Brother Ford entered the novitiate in 1946 and professed his final vows in 1952. Over the years he earned a bachelor’s degree and three master’s degrees. He served as a professor at Bethlehem University from 1978-82 where he championed the rights of the Palestinians. In 1983 Brother Ford became a professor in the Extended Education Program at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, where he worked for four years. He went to Cuernavaca, Mexico, to study Spanish so that he could teach in the free school operated by the Brothers of the San Francisco District and the District of Mexico-North in Tijuana, Mexico. He taught various courses there until he retired in 2001 at De La Salle House in Berkeley. He moved to Napa in 2004.
