St. Mary’s College hosts Eco-Fair and symposium

As part of a national teach-in on climate change, Saint Mary’s College is hosting a day-long eco-fair and an evening symposium on solutions to global warming on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

The eco-fair in Saint Mary’s Soda Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will feature green vendors, advocacy groups and non-profit organizations working for a sustainable future. Seven films will be screened between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A symposium at 7 p.m. will feature four experts discussing the challenges and opportunities of climate change and what it will take to cut greenhouse gas emissions by two percent over the next decade.

The speakers include Stephen Schneider, an author for the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and co-director of the Stanford’s Center for Environmental Science and Policy.
