EWTN, the Catholic TV network, is offering several special
programs for the Christmas season. The programs can be seen locally on
Comcast Digital channel 229; DISH Satellite channel 261; and DirecTV channel
370; in Alameda on Comcast channel 30 and Alameda Power channel 26.
Christmas Cantata, a choral presentation of Andrew Miller’s “Birth
of Christ,” will air Dec. 20 at 7 a.m., Dec. 23 at 6 p.m. and Dec.
25 at 10:30 a.m.
“Candles & Carols,” an annual performance by more than
200 college choral and instrumental groups, will air on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m.
and Dec. 26 at 11 a.m.
Solemn Mass at Midnight with Pope Benedict XVI will be broadcast live
from St. Peter’s Basilica on Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. and will repeat Dec.
25 at 5 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Choral meditations and the Solemn Mass of Christmas Eve will air live
from the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception
in Washington, D.C., Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.
Pope’s Christmas Message to the World will be telecast live from
St. Peter’s Square on Dec. 25 at 3 a.m., with encores Dec. 25 at
7 p.m. and Dec. 26 at 12 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Mass of Solemnity of Mary and 41st World Day of Peace. Pope Benedict celebrates
at St. Peter’s Basilica, Jan. 1, 1 a.m.
Mass of the Epiphany. Pope Benedict celebrates at St. Peter’s Basilica,
Jan. 6, 1 a.m.
