Above, the last of the 100-foot tall glu-laminated
Douglas fir beams were lifted into place for the new Cathedral of
Christ the Light during the week of July 9. This month, a veil
of glass, comprised of over 1000 4.5-foot by 10-foot’ panels,
will begin to be placed around this wooden vault. The building is
located at the corner of Harrison Street
and Grand Avenue, across from Oakland’s Lake Merritt.
