| Parish
communities in Pleasanton and San Ramon will remember the passion of Jesus
by walking in prayerful meditation during Cross Walks on Good Friday,
April 6.
As it has in previous years, the walk organized by the Catholic Community
of Pleasanton will focus on a social justice theme. This year the text
will reflect on the suffering and hope of undocumented immigrants and
those who have been deported.
Participants will gather at St. Augustine Church, 3999 Bernal Ave. at
4:30 p.m., where they will pick up small crosses, prayer cards and picket
signs. The Cross Walk will follow a path northwards for about 3.3 miles
to end at St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 4001 Stoneridge Dr. around 7:15
p.m. At each of the 14 stations the walkers will stop for a short reading
about what happened to Jesus and a short reflection on what is happening
to migrants today.
The youth ministry program at St. Joan of Arc Parish in San Ramon is organizing
the walk that will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the parish youth center,
2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd. Participants will walk to St. Raymond Parish
in Dublin. At the end of the walk, participants will share soup and bread
in Moran Hall at St. Raymond. |
