Outdoor Rosary set
for Rose Bowl

The Rosary Bowl, a major outdoor celebration of the Rosary, will take place at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on May 19. Its co-sponsors are Holy Cross Family Ministries and Family Theater Productions, the Hollywood-based ministry founded by the late Father Patrick Peyton. The event is expected to be the largest outdoor celebration of the Rosary in Southern California in nearly 50 years, according to Father John Phalen, HCFM president. It’s free and will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles, will be the featured speaker.

Holy Cross Family Ministries is a continuation of Father Peyton’s 64-year international ministry to popularize the Rosary. During his lifetime, he helped spread its devotion to 40 countries, making it the most widespread and popular form of prayer among Catholics worldwide. In 1961, 500,000 attendees came to an outdoor rally in San Francisco. In 1985, a Rosary Rally in the Philippines attracted over two million attendees.

For further information about the Pasadena rally, go to www.rosarybowl.org.
