. . . Carondelet High School is a four-year Catholic secondary
school serving the young women of Contra Costa County. Since its founding
in 1965, Carondelet has carried on a proud tradition of Christian community
and academic excellence. The campus is located thirty miles east of San
Francisco, making it accessible to many cultural and educational facilities.
Students commute from within a 30mile radius of the school, representing

Mission . . . Carondelet High School, founded
and sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, provides a quality

Curriculum . . . Students are offered a full

. . . De La Salle is a private Catholic high school founded
in 1965 by the Christian Brothers. The campus includes a state-of-the
art student center and cafeteria, 400-seat theatre, library and media
center, retrofitted gymnasium with new locker rooms and weight room, pool,
athletic field complex, computer center, art studios, and a music building.
The faculty consists of 68 professionals; the administration includes
one Christian Brother and three lay persons. There are also seven counselors,
two of whom are the College Counselors. De La Salle is fully accredited
by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Its current six-year

of Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in 1868 on the shores of Lake Merritt,

. . . Saint Mary’s is a Lasallian Catholic coeducational
college preparatory high school located on a 13-acre site in North Berkeley
and is fullly accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges
and the Western Catholic Education Association through 2010. Saint Mary’s
is notable for the deep and powerful influence of the Christian Brothers,
their mission, and values, which ensure the quality and character of the
school. Saint Mary’s has a long, well-respected educational tradition
in the Bay Area as it celebrates its 144th year of education in the community
and its 79th year on the North Berkeley campus.
Saint Mary’s reflects a richly diverse community of students from
different social, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. Saint Mary’s
seeks to educate the whole person and is committed to an educational program

The educational program provides a strong foundational basis and challenges

a personal commitment to lifelong learning. At Saint Mary’s, students
are encouraged to challenge themselves and their world by engaging in
intellectual and moral inquiry in order to develop critical and independent
thinking.
Curriculum Highlights . . . Saint Mary’s
offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum surpassing State requirements
and providing students with a comprehensive educational program including
a full offering of Visual and Performing Arts, a variety of electives,
Honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. All academic courses are
approved by the University of California. Complementing our academic program
are the following educational special programs: Freshman Experience, Enrichment
Week, Career Day, and Community Block.
Co-Curricular . . . Saint Mary’s offers
competitive athletic programs in 20 interscholastic sports as a member
of the Bay Shore Athletic League (BSAL) and has achieved a variety of
league titles and championships, including five individual State Champions
within the past 6 years. The school also sponsors a lunchtime intramural
program and a variety of campus clubs/activities promoting transferable
skills of leadership and teamwork.
