Social justice is focus
of Sept. 23 gathering

Gina Hens-Piazza, professor of Biblical Studies at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, will be the keynote speaker for a gathering on social justice ministry, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Oakland.

Joe Hastings of Catholic Relief Services will lead a workshop on integrating global solidarity into parish life. Paulist Father Brett Hoover, author and founder of busted halo.com, an online magazine for spiritual seekers in their 20’s and 30’s, will discuss how to engage young adults in justice ministry.

Carolyn Krantz, pastoral associate at St. Peter Martyr Parish, Pittsburg, will examine community organizing principles.
