The
Judas stories
Passionist Father Thomas Bonacci will lead participants through
an exploration of the recently translated Judas Gospel in a series
of presentations this month at St. Ignatius Parish, 3351 Contra
Loma Blvd. in Antioch from 7:30 – 9 p.m. The sessions begin
June 1 with an introduction to the non-canonical gospels; the stories
of Judas by the evangelists on June 8; the function and purpose
of the Judas stories on June 22, and highlights from the discovery
on June 29. Notes will be included. A free will donation will be

Playing
Around
This smiling crawdad by artist and musician Jim Bartz is part of a
new exhibition, “Playing Around: Toys Designed By Artists,”
opening June 3 at the Hearst Art Gallery at St. Mary’s College,
1928 St. Mary’s Road, Moraga. Toys, found in tombs dating back
more than 4,000 years, reflect the values of a society through the
lives and play activities of children across cultures and throughout
the centuries. The exhibition demonstrates the artists’ invention,
whimsy, dexterity, improvisation and imagination. Gallery hours: 11
