Right, the new Cathedral of Christ the Light is beginning to take visible shape at the corner of Grand Avenue and Harrison Street in downtown Oakland. The floor plan is based on the “vescia pisces,” an ancient sign for a gathering place among many cultures. Above, a construction worker walks past the wooden form that will hold the first layer of concrete for the base of the altar. Construction is expected to be completed by January 2008. More construction photos can be seen at www.christthelightcathedral.org.
