Red Cross seeks church involvement
As the Bay
Area commemorates the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake
and fires, the Bay Area chapter of the American Red Cross is encouraging
local churches to become involved in disaster preparedness through its
new “Prepare Bay Area” campaign.
The goal is to inform at least one million Bay Area residents about the
need to prepare for natural disasters, particularly earthquakes, and to
train citizens in how to respond to a major calamity.
The campaign also focuses on responding to the needs of at-risk communities,
such as older people, the disabled and the homeless.
