Peace activist priest to speak May 8
at Christ the King Church

Franciscan Louis Vitale will share his experiences as a peace activist during a May 8 presentation at Christ the King Church, 199 Brandon Road in Pleasant Hill, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Father Vitale is a former pastor of St. Boniface Parish in San Francisco who has served time in federal prison for taking part in protests at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, formerly known as School of the Americas, in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Father Vitale will talk about the reasons for peace action there and will make connections between the SOA, U.S. policy in Iraq, and torture.
He will also discuss the recent agreement by Argentina and Ecuador not to send troops to the SOA.Donations toward the priest’s work with Pace e Bene
Nonviolence Service will be accepted.
