2004 Financial Report for the Oakland Diocese
Dear
Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
In this issue
of the Voice I submit for your information the results of the audit of
the Central Services of the Diocese for 2004.
We do well to remember that behind the numbers accompanying this letter
is the spiritual reality of the sacrifices made by the faithful in support
of the mission of the Church. I pray to be a good steward of the gifts
you give to the Church and judiciously apply your selfless spiritual and
temporal gifts to the support of the mission we share as followers of
Jesus Christ.
In sharing this information with you, I also want to express my gratitude
to the many generous and qualified people who enable my careful stewardship
of the goods you have entrusted to your Diocese. Throughout the year I
have been ably and regularly advised in my financial responsibilities
by the Diocesan Finance Council, the Audit Committee and the Priest-Consultors
of the Diocese. The efforts and professional guidance of these two groups
have been invaluable to ensure the continued financial viability of our
diocese.
