St. Patrick’s Seminary prepares men to be
priests for dioceses throughout the West

Sixteen dioceses and the Conventual Franciscans send men to study at St. Patrick’s Seminary and University in Menlo Park. The seminary, accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Association of Theological Schools, is led by Sulpician Father Gerald L. Brown.

Currently there are 87 seminarians at St. Patrick’s, 12 of whom are studying for the Oakland Diocese. The Archdiocese of San Francisco has 14 seminarians as does the Diocese of San Jose. The Diocese of Sacramento has 11 and the Stockton Diocese has 8.

The ethnicity of the seminarians reflects the multi-cultural makeup of the dioceses where they will serve. Thirty-eight are Asian/Pacific Islander, 23 are Hispanic, 23 are Anglo and three are African. Their average age is 35.5 years old.
