Even Santa Claus can’t help but visit one of the merriest
Christmas sites of the East Bay – the home of Deacon Dave
Rezendes (left) at 352 Hillcrest Ave. in Livermore, where an elaborate
Christmas display is open for all to see for the 23rd straight year.
The display, featuring more than 250,000 lights, is open from 6
– 9:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and from 6 –
10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is free.

Rejoice in song
Lift your voices and spirits this Christmas
season at the Festival of Lessons and Carols on Dec. 18 at St. Augustine
Church, 400 Alcatraz Ave. in Oakland, The service, which begins at
4 p.m., will consist of Scripture selections telling the story of
salvation history from Adam and Eve to the birth of Jesus. Interspersed
between the readings will be favorite Advent and Christmas carols,
some sung by the assembly and some by the diocesan choir of 40 voices
