The diocesan School for Pastoral Ministry, a formation
process to help local Catholics learn more about their faith or discern
their gifts for ministry, is hosting five information nights about the
program.
The three-year formation program is for those seeking to explore their
call to ministry and for lay ministers, catechists and Catholic school
teachers wanting to increase their knowledge of the faith and build their
practical ministerial skills. The school also enrolls men interested in
becoming permanent deacons.
The gatherings will take place at: Most Holy Rosary Church, 1313 A St.
in Antioch on Oct. 12, from 7:30 – 9 p.m.; Holy Names University,
3500 Mountain Blvd., Oakland, on Oct. 15, 11 a.m. – noon; St. John
the Baptist community center, 6500 Gladys, El Cerrito, on Oct. 19, 7:30
– 9 p.m.; St. Joachim Church, gym meeting room, 21250 Hesperian
Blvd., Hayward on Nov. 3, 7:30 – 9 p.m.; and Santa Maria Church,
40 Santa Maria Way, Orinda, on Nov. 9, 7:30 – 9 p.m.
Participants in the school meet one Saturday each month at Holy Names
University in Oakland, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The program has a one-time
$25 application fee and tuition is $555 per school year.
