Prayers to end violence |
Members of St. Paul Parish in San Pablo and residents of the community at large join in protest and prayer during an Aug. 13 action against the growing violence in their city and neighboring Richmond. Conventual Franciscan Father Masseo Gonzales of St. Paul was one of the organizers of the ecumenical event. Prayer brings consolation and strength to community members who gathered at Contra Costa College after the procession. |
Participants lower a symbolic casket from a hearse that led the procession of cars during a mile-long drive from 24th Street to Contra Costa College Stadium where the casket was placed in front of the stage during the afternoon ceremony that included a bilingual rosary and testimonies from parents who have lost sons or daughters to violence.
