Post-abortion retreatoffers healing and
support, July 29-31

A “Rachel’s Vineyard” summer weekend retreat for individuals and couples who are suffering from the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion will be held July 29-31 in the Sonoma wine country.

Sponsored by After the Choice, the Diocese of Oakland’s post-abortion outreach, the retreat will include the sharing of stories and participation in various rituals and exercises to help individuals and couples grieve the loss of their unborn child. This process allows repressed feelings of anger, shame, guilt and grief to surface and to be released in a safe environment of mutual support, said Monika Rodman, Respect Life specialist.

The retreat will conclude with a memorial service and Mass of Resurrection. Although the retreat has been designed for persons with a Catholic or other Christian spiritual background, any person who is open to a spiritually oriented healing process is welcome, said Rodman.

Tuition for the weekend is $150 per person, or $200 a couple, but financial assistance is available. For a complete information packet, phone 510-267-8335 or email Mrodman@oakdiocese.org.
