An elderly Bolivian Indian couple pray for peace in front of a pile of coca leaves in La Paz where tens of thousands of miners and peasants had descended to demand nationalization of the country's energy resources. The monthlong blockade brought down the president and the new caretaker president agreed to call early elections.
