Concord parish dedicates monument

By Voice staff

The Oakland chapter of the Knights of Columbus has sponsored the placement of a Ten Commandments monument at St. Francis of Assisi Parish and they were present when the monument was dedicated earlier this month.

The monument is part of a national “Project Moses” movement to raise awareness of and respect for the Bible-based moral laws across the country. On the reverse side of the monument are inscribed the Eight Beatitudes.

Project Moses grew out of numerous legal battles to remove Ten Commandment displays from courthouses and other public properties around the country. The Knights of Columbus and other organizations have been helping local churches and faith communities establish Ten Commandment monuments at their sites.

The dedication service in Concord followed a Mass for Life celebrated by Bishop Allen Vigneron and preceded a talk on “Promoting a Culture of Life by Word and Witness,” by Tim Staples, a full-time Catholic evangelist.
