New director at Catholic Charities

By Voice staff

Solomon Belette has been appointed executive director of Catholic Charities of the East Bay, succeeding interim director, Deacon Thomas McGowan. He has been the agency’s director of programs for the past eight years.

He also has more than 20 years of mission-related work and non-profit experience within the Church, including positions at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops/Migration and Refugee Services in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. from 1992 – 1997.

“It is a great honor and privilege for me to serve Catholic Charities as the 10th executive director,” Belette said. “We are blessed with a dedicated board of directors, staff, volunteers, and donors who believe in the great tradition of Catholic Charities as an agency, whose mission is to serve the poor and marginalized in our East Bay community.”

A member at Christ the King Parish in Pleasant Hill, Belette is married and the father of four children.
